v0.05 [Blue]

Refresh your eyes with a stunning display of blue, blue, and more blue! Identify the different colours of blue in HTML codes! :) What fun! :D

Just to make sure you were not overly bombarded by that-oh-so-much information, I'll explain...slowly.

MSNoobSterZ is on version 0.05! I know it seems kind of bleh to put it that way, so I've come up with a more interesting name. Presenting to you, *drum rolls* VERSION 0.05 MSNOOBSTERZ OFFICIAL GUILD WEBLOG TEMPLATE, THEME: BLUE - ON CLOUD NINE!

Too much? Try this then: Our current theme is that of "Blue: On Cloud Nine!"

Just to recap, in case you've forgotten, or if it's your first time here and you think I'm nuts, the idea of themes surfaced early this year.

The weblog will be more versatile, more hip, and more themed!

Our previous template was that of RED. That was a special one. :) Actually, all my themes are special. ^^ The red one was to celebrate the (Chinese) Lunar New Year and (the Western) Valentine's Day. Oh, isn't this just reflective of all that talk on biculturalism? *smiles sweetly* And it's red, because the Chinese consider red to be an auspicious colour, and hearts are also red. =)

So I'll introduce in a new colour every few months (years! Just kidding. xD ), and the header picture will reflect that theme as well, hopefully.

I hope you enjoy this one, I spent forever on it. -_-" Much effort has been put into it, so if you wish to criticise me/my work, please do so constructively, thank you. :D

Picture Updates

Okay, I've uncovered this function in Adobe Illustrator that will trace your drawings for you. -_-" Which means that I wasted so much time tracing, zzz. And as you all can see, the quality of the colouring isn't very good, because pixels are lost when I pour paint, blah blah.

So now I'm going to photocopy the original drawing, and continue drawing, using correction tape to correct flaws. Then I'll scan it in (hopefully, if my dad sets up the scanner-printer in time) or take a photo, preferably the first.

Then I'll use Illustrator to colour it in, touch up, instead of Corel. :D Because I can add in gradients etc in Illustrator easily.

I just confused you, didn't I? =P

Nevermind, just a quick update lar, haha.

Header picture: Added points

Hello!

Okay, I'll be editing the pictures when I can (when I'm free). I don't know when that will be without sacrificing Mapling time, but I'll try.

Note: Will be adding in 2 more characters, try to spot yourself now. Hopefully, should be more obvious. Since the previous one wasn't as obvious.

Oh, coco, I made a mistake =P You were meant to be the guy holding the ":D" signboard, but I realised, after colouring, that it's a WARRIOR holding it. Grah. -_- So I'll use that as someone else, and put you in. =)

Yes, Rickz, I WILL be adding in your archer, LOLS.

To facilitate my adding, can COCO and RICKZ please send me a picture of their characters (zCoconutan and ArrowedRayz) ASAP? This is because I am unable to view many of the rankings. As in, the picture doesn't load/display, so I need your help. =)

Header Picture Updates

More drafts...

I drew in pencil first, then outlined in pen. :) Now, features of each person are clearer. Yay!


Now, more outlines. And the black pen I used! :D


I added in Gen this morning! Sorry Gen =/ I wasn't sure which character of yours to put in (Xenon, Keane or Gen). So I added you in much later. Much apologies! >< But you turned out pretty well, I must say. x)


And, and...finally! A sneak peek! I've been working on this the whole morning. It still needs colouring, and the adding in of some effects. But, nonetheless, tadaaa!~


How is it? Please give me your feedback. I originally wanted to put in a gradient background, so it won't look so boring, but I wasn't able to. =/

Weblog Header Picture

Hey guildmates, alliance members, and random readers!

The current weblog skin is for CNY and VDay ONLY (yes, the red one. According to Gen, 'ang ang' xD ). So, have to come up with a new one soon. :)


Would appreciate it if anybody has any suggestions for the header picture (The main picture at the top of the blog).

Currently, ideas I have in mind for the drawing are:

1. Field! People surrounded by flowers and grass. Although I can't draw flowers OR grass.

2. City! Sitting down on the floor/chair and drinking bubbletea or something like that.

3. Beach! Maybe attempting to build a sandcastle above somebody?

4. Studio picture (like the ones you take in school every year: class photo! and the like.)

5. Candid shot :D Really random, maybe the background can be a park by the beach or something? Then got scenery mah.

6. No picture. (...)

Ok okay, comment comment! If you have any suggestions, leave them here as well! Then I can start on it soon.

As the title suggests, I'll be changing the blogskin. This time, it'll be more theme-ed, more versatile, and more interesting!

I'm nearly done with the skin and all that, now just need to transfer the information. =)

Too bad to the people whose resolutions have a width of 800px. =P You have to scroll horizontally now. F3.

Anyway. MAY be updating this skin soon, to make it more...professional looking. Hahas =) And to accomodate the 600px wide Maple screenshots. This would save on the resizing time. =/

Website Update to v0.04 (update)

Dear loyal readers of this blog and my Guildmates,

Please be informed that there will be a Website update and Blogskin revamp for this blog on 20th October 2009 (+8 GMT), from 1500hrs to 20th October 2009 1800hrs (+8 GMT). The Website will be accessible, but certain features would not function as well during this period. Please try not to access the website during the aforementioned times because it is in a mess, and is constantly updating.

The update includes:

Version 0.04 of Guild Website(:

New skin!

Better interface!

Addition of new sections/editing of current sections

Remember to check back after the update is over and return to us regularly(: If you have problems accessing our weblog after the update, please clear your cache and visit us again. Thank you for your kind and sincere cooperation.

Note that this weblog was designed with Internet Explorer 7.0 in mind. The features may not function properly in earlier versions of IE. Moreover, this weblog was not designed to be cross-browser compatible. Some features are, but not all, and I am hoping to make it multiple-browser compliant one day.

[Update]

- Menu at the side; check it out! It is supposed to expand on click, and detract upon clicking on a different menu title. It does not work in all browsers, and it also does not work in earlier versions of certain browsers. If you encounter any difficulty, please contact the Webmaster.

- Currently on version 0.04. Last edited 1600, 20 October.

- Weblog functions have resumed since 1630 (+8 GMT).


NOTE: The header picture was not intentionally created like this. The software which I use to create my GIFs export only in a few colours D: There were many many many many more colours )': sobsob.

GRAHH. Upsetting. That was an unforeseen happening, however. Would do something about it soon - hopefully.

Serious (quite)

Ok I know I am not meant to be posting, but this is rather important and serious.

Recently, I did a search on our guildname on the Internet. I found one website which I do not know, nor have heard of, nor support, that had OUR GUILDNAME in it. Yes our guildname. However when I clicked on the link the website was some (illegal) movie downloading site, and a search on the web page found no hint of "MSNoobSterZ".

However, when I looked at the cache snapshot of the page (dated 20 Sep 2009), I found MSNoobSterZ in the text, mixed up with a mish-mash of sentences. It's really nonsensical.

It's not a very good website, and I am really worried for anybody who may stumble on there by mistake. So please let me remind all of you WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY WEBSITES/BLOGS THAT MENTION "MSNOOBSTERZ" IN IT. Go at your own risk, but I'm just warning you first. 

So please do not jump to conclusions. Thank you. Oh ya, and beware on what you click on.

Heyhey! :D


Lols I have been on the computer for nearly 12 hours now. :P

But that is besides the point.

The point is, I have made many many improvements to MSNoobSterZ v0.04 template. It's about 75% done. What's left is the header and footer pictures; the codings are done, the background is done... phew. It was a MAMMOTH TASK. But thank goodness it's 75% done.

So, more news on it!

The header picture will be in gif this time round; I'll be doing GIF ANIMATIONS! YAY! I LOVE GIF ANIMATIONS! But enough of that. *ahem*

And I finished the grass! Okay, none of you know what I am talking about. But once the new template comes out, you'll see.

I am still sourcing for a hits counter; it's pretty hard to find one that is user-friendly, is not associated with atdmt (that pretty much ruled out 50% or so of the hit counters on the Net) and one which is highly customizable, allowing me to tweak the counter a little.


On another note, I also finished the SyNerGy alliance page. Note that I've been postponing it since May, so...ya.

But the alliance weblog is up and running! Woo! But I don't know what to post there. So I kinda left it blank, except for the tests posts.

Yay! I feel accomplished!

Well, I think that's about it. I suppose I better get off the computer now; it may overheat :P

Removal of website hit counter

Hello all,

Today you would notice that our website hit counter is missing.

I have removed it.

There were some conflicts between the website in question and my Hosts file, so I was in doubt as to their credibility. Maybe I am wrong, but I have removed it, to keep on the safe side.

I will update you all more. Meanwhile I advise you to scan for spyware on your computer. I do not know what is happening now, but I am trying to find out.

I strongly encourage you to block pop-ups on this blog for the time being; if you wish to view any pages, in IE, you can press down the CTRL button while clicking on a link.

Once again, thank you for your kind co-operaton. We seek your understanding on this matter. Do not panic.

Preview of new template

Hello! Another screenshot!




Ok ignore the green colour bits on top; they're meant to be something else. As in, I am going to put a different picture there. But the green bits on the bottom are intentional; in the new template it will be a picture of GRASS! Yay!

And the blue...it is meant to show the sky. Not this shade of colour though; a bit too bright. See the black portions near the top and near the bottom? Well, the top is going to be a new header picture! Yay! And the bottom may be the footer; or I may take that away entirely

Well, that scrollbar is not going to stay orange, but rest-assured my FFCC33-lovers, I'll find somewhere to place that nice colour =D.

This is really just a rough preview, but the template is roughly like this.

At first I was thinking of using the area-coord thing (I don't know how to describe it) like our second version:

(Well, in case you're wondering, our first version was actually the default blog template.) =)

Then after that I was thinking of using all tables, like our third version:




After messing up many times I gave up on the idea! Here was what I was trying to do :





A table! (the black white thing in the centre) within a table! (the white border surrounding)

I wanted to have a standard background (the orange, perhaps?). Also, do you see the faint white lines along the vertical side of the table? The bits, which are currently orange, are the - ok this is confusing

Ahem, let me try again.

Okay, let the black white table inside be table 1. Let the orange table behind be table 2. You with me?

Okay, good. =)

Now, what I was trying to do was to put a nice image in table 2, but it will be behind table 1, where the contents are. However I also want to put a background image on the lovely FFCC33 background.

Confusing, eh?

Well I then decided to just give up on that whole idea. There was a similar failed attempt, too. But I'm too lazy to find the screenshot so just try to imagine.

I really liked the area-coord thing in version 0.02, but I completely forgot that not everybody's browser windows are 1280pixels wide. -_- (My friend reminded me through that screenshot of version 0.02 above ^)

I started work on the area-coord one, but I wasn't very sure whether it was all-resolutions compliant. That is, because area co-ords work on the basis of positioning relative to the top and left, so when you click on a "linked area" it brings you somewhere else, e.g. posts. So what looks good on a 1280 x 800 screen may not necessarily look equally good on a 800 x 600 screen, maybe even messsed up.

I wanted to come up with something that was all resolution compliant, so from version 0.03 onwards the maximum width for anything was probably 800pixels, so that those with 800 x 600 resolution screens need not scroll horizontally. =)

However I think it is not within my erm...capabilities to make the new template cross-browser compliant. It looks good on IE, but I think some browsers do not permit certain scripts. But actually the scripts are not a "need-to-have", they're currently sort of a "want-to-have". It just makes the blog look more interesting and lively. You can turn off scripts, it's fine. XD

And, regarding the screen resolution thing, currently I am thinking of having repetitive grass at the bottom of the blog, and it sorts of extends along with your screen width. So, to see the best effect, it is highly encouraged to have a screen resolution width of more than 800pixels. But it's not necessary, really! =D You can view this at 800 x 600 and I'll be pleased as well. I hope you will too, considering my self-learnt HTML codings. =P

Well, on this note, I hope that you will have fun viewing this blog/website in the future, as I had much fun creating the template, and doing the layouts!
